Ashley Brookshier, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in the state of Arizona, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and a Nationally Registered Health Service Psychologist. She has worked in the field of mental health since 2011. She graduated with honors from Northern Arizona University with a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and has worked in clinical hospital settings as well as the public education sector. Clinically, she worked closely with integrative medical teams to clarify diagnoses, design appropriate treatment plans, and provide mental health care to patients across the spectrum of age and health. In the education sector, she provided school psychology services to children identified with severe behavior and emotional concerns. She has provided trainings to school districts, residential treatment facilities, and university classrooms about the principles of trauma-informed care and the importance of early intervention.
Her therapeutic approach combines evidence-based practices including trauma-informed care, acceptance and commitment therapy, and self-compassion. She employs a client-centered approach and firmly believes that the client should remain informed and be an active participant in their own therapeutic treatment planning and care. She is motivated to practice good self-care and live a life aligned with her own values so she can help clients do the same.
